So we had our family from Australia stay with us for a week recently, and this blog post is about how we kept them busy and how we showed them around orange county and made sure they had a good time! My sister in law is about 45 and she brought her niece who is 10 years old. All of the activities had to keep everybody happy including my 1 year old baby and 5 year old daughter!
So, What should you do with out of town guests in Orange County? Here’s how our week played out…
Monday – Picked them up from LAX and came straight home to shower, relax, and have a nap! Followed by a pool day at our clubhouse, and BBQ dinner at home.
Tuesday – Sea World! Check out my blog post for all the details about sea world and how to get the best deals and parking, even the traffic hours and best time to leave!
Wednesday – SHOPPING we started at south coast metro point so we could hit the discount stores first. When people come from other countries, they love to shop all the brand names and they love to get a good deal if possible. The best stores to get the amazing deals are Nordstrom Rack, DSW, Marshalls, OFF Sacks, and then you can always drive over to TJ MAXX if you must! Following the discount stores, we went to Fashion Island had a late lunch at Hop Doddy, walked Fashion Island, visited all of the amazing fountains, and quite a few stores as well. Ending with a trip to Nespresso to fill up our coffee stock!
Thursday – Disneyland. Of course.. But we didn’t go until about noon and the reason for this is because parking and the entrance is always jam packed during the week right when the park opens. So we parked at the Mickey and Friends Structure and had little to no wait to get parked and on the tram. The entrance was about a 2 minute line and it was smooth sailing from there! We hit Toon Town first, Then Autopia, Then had some lunch in tomorrow land. We cruised over to the jungle cruise, then grabbed a fast pass for splash mountain, winnie the pooh, and splash mountain with no wait. The older one went on Indiana Jones while we went to grab a seat for the pixar parade and some cotton candy! We had an amazing time watching the parade front row and then quickly got on star wars for the last ride of the day! It was amazing, exhausting, and we were home by 8pm
Friday – Started with my favorite Barre Fit Cardio Class at Equinox Newport Beach. Then Beach bike rides on the Newport Beach Peninsula. We always rent from the same shop ( Newport Cruisers ). They are so chill and have the best prices and always perfect nikes helmets, kid seats, you name it. They will throw on a basket for you, adjust the seat, whatever you need for no extra charge. We cruised down the boardwalk and then stopped and grabbed some lunch at the little Mexican place across from Cabo Cantina. This place is so good, but it’s best for take out since there is no atmosphere. We took our lunch to the picnic tables by the park and let the kids play! It was such a gorgeous day.
Saturday – Morning walk to the Irvine Farmers Market and then played at our favorite park at Mariners Church. Then we had a pool day with the family and kids followed by an Adult Night out! We had our nanny come over at 5pm and went to Pelican Hill for Happy Hour! It’s the best way to start date night with an amazing view, best martinis and great service. After Pelican Hill, we had dinner reservations at Red O Fashion Island. We love this place because they have live music in the bar area every single night and it’s always a good time! Although this time in particular the bartender was quite rude.. but normally we have great service and great food!
Sunday – The girls went to get our nails done at Nailtique in Irvine. I love this place because they are clean and they really do amazing work! After our nails, we came back home for a few hours at the pool and then a huge block party in our neighborhood.
Monday – ( Memorial Day ) So naturally we had a pool day and farewell BBQ! Before the pool, Just me and my sister in law headed over to 17th street and had coffee at Kean Coffee ( the best ) and then did some make up shopping at Ulta. It was an amazing day and a jam packed week!! I think we showed them a good time
If you have any feedback or questions please let me know! – Cheers, Megan
