I have a love-hate relationship with slime. In other words, my husband and I are the haters and the children are the lovers. I really can’t stand the sticky slime that ruins blankets, furniture, and clothes so we made up a version that is not sticky. Or .. the least sticky as possible! It’s easy and you can grab the supplies at Target.

What you'll need:

Everything can be bought at Target but if you want to order on Amazon everything is linked and I found the same prices online if not way cheaper!

  1. Elmer’s Glue. I like to buy the small ones for a dollar simply because the kids dump in the entire jar and we don’t have to measure. It just makes it that much easier. If you plan to make this a lot you would save money buy buying a large elmer’s glue.
  2. Elmer’s Glue Activator. Remember there are so many slime recipes out there and this isn’t necessary but I am giving you my exact recipe to make sure you get really good non sticky slime!
  3.  Baking Soda
  4. Saline Solution
  5. Foam Shaving Cream
  6. Food coloring
  7. Glitter
  8. Tiny Erasers (extra add on)

Make the Slime!

I bought plastic bowls from Target just for slime making! They were .79 each. Give each child a bowl and have the dump one full bottle of Elmer’s Glue.

Add 4 drops of food coloring .. this purple one shown is cheap bottle of food coloring that I need to use up. I like the ones that are a tiny bit more because they are way more vibrant and fun and they won’t stain the kids hands. Get them here on APrime for just $13.98

Add 1 tablespoon of the Elmers Glue Activator

Stir together. I used old water bottle straws I wanted to through out for stir sticks. You can also use disposable or regular spoons etc.

Add shaving cream. I let the kids add this so its not measured exactly but just don’t add more shaving cream then the mixture you already have in the bowl. Try for about the same amount as the glue bottle.

Add Glitter now!

My extra special non sticky tip!

If you use the Elmers Glue activator you do not need baking soda or saline solution. However, you’ll get sticky slime. I like adding 2 tablespoons of baking soda at this point and then 3 drops of solution. This makes the perfect slime that is rubbery .. non sticky and still makes the “fart noises” the kids seem to just LOVE!

How to store it and play with it? I like putting it in a paper cup where they can out their fingers in to squish it. You can also store it in a paper cup, then ziplock bag in the fridge. Why fridge? Mostly so they can’t use it without asking!!

The Tiny Erasers

These tiny things are just too fun to add into the slime and squish around for little surprises. Get 100 pieces of them on Amazon for just $7.99
